Weber Genesis Gas Grill review:
This is my first "real" grill. It is amazing to finally have a grill where you click the starter once and you know it will be lit every time, where you know 5 years from now the thermometer is going to still work, and (most importantly) it cooks everything on its surface exactly how you dreamt it would. The cast iron greats cook everything perfectly, and the surface is evenly heated throughout the grill. I could not imagine a better propane grill - they pretty much thought of everything.
Other aspects of the item... Its physical construction is superb, everything is high quality material, and each piece fits together perfectly (no misaligned holes or the like). On a related note, the construction is a bit of a project, probably a good 2 hours for your average Joe... It is not terrible, there are just a lot of steps (25 or so). If you go into it knowing that, and just plan for 2 hours drinking and assembling with a buddy, you'll be fine.
Finally, aesthetics... It looks beautiful, as you can see in the pictures. It is even prettier in person; this is one of those toys where you cannot help but say "Let me show you my new grill!!" each time a friend comes over for the first week you have it.
My friend has a 6 year old Weber from a similar line, it sits on the deck year round, and it still lights on the first try every time, the thermometer still works, and it still cooks like a dream. That's why you should spend the extra money, and your wife will understand :-).
